In his resignation letter, dated March 9 and tendered to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on March ten, Scindia claimed: “It is now time for me to transfer on”. He was not able to “provide the persons of the place while remaining in the celebration”, he wrote. A shell-stunned Congress, in a largely inconsequential transfer, expelled him right after this. Scindia’s exit break up the grand old celebration in the condition, with various leaders expressing their dissent.
How the nummbers stack up: Congress has a wafer-slim majority in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly whose existing helpful toughness is 228. If the resignations of 22 or more MLAs is recognized, the toughness of the Assembly will fall to 206 or considerably less. The magic selection for retaining the majority then will be 103. The Congress will be still left with 92 seats and the BJP 109 seats.
