ICAR directed to include ‘natural farming’ in UG/PG course syllabus

In a less than a week following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to farmers to shift from chemical-dependent farming, the Indian Council of Agricultural Investigation (ICAR) has made a decision to contain ‘natural farming’ in the syllabus at equally undergraduate and put up-graduate levels subsequent a govt directive.

“Education division of ICAR shall build syllabus in consultation with Agricultural Universities and Pure Farming Industry experts for inclusion in UG/PG classes,” ICAR’s Assistant Director Basic, SP Kimothi, claimed in a letter addressed to all directors of ICAR institutes and Vice Chancellors of agriculture universities.

The letter dated December 22 claimed that the situation (of organic farming) was also “emphasised by Hon’ble Prime Minister while addressing the country for the duration of valedictory operate of the Vivrant Gujarat Summit on December sixteen.”
