Tata Motors declared that Guenter Butschek who had knowledgeable his wish to relocate to Germany at the close of the agreement for personal causes, will be stepping down from his function as CEO & MD from June 30, 2021. He will carry on as a consultant to the firm until the close of this fiscal 12 months.
Pursuant to this, Girish Wagh is getting appointed as the Executive Director to the Board of Tata Motors from July one, 2021. Wagh is the president of commercial motor vehicles division. The passenger automobile division will carry on to be headed by Shailesh Chandra.
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran stated, “I would like to thank Guenter for leading Tata Motors productively over the past five years and producing a strong foundation for the long run. I seem forward to his ongoing inputs as a consultant to the firm.”
Just before Butschek, Tata Motors was without having a CEO for two years (2014 until 2016) soon after Karl Slym’s unexpected demise. At that time, previous Tata Motors chairman Cyrus Mistry supervised its functioning. The firm was also without having a CEO for 10 months in 2012, soon after Prakash Telang superannuated. Just before that too, it was without having a CEO for 10 years (1994 to 2005), soon after J E Talaulicar retired. Tata Motors chairman emeritus Ratan Tata oversaw the company’s operations in the course of that interval.
Butschek, also a German nationwide, has been handling Tata Motors from his property country Austria for most of the Covid-19 pandemic that has restricted human mobility.
