TORONTO—For many years, some 1,600 nurses from Windsor, Ontario, have commuted everyday across the border to do the job in Detroit’s wellbeing-care system, filling a nursing scarcity in the Michigan city.
Now the nurses are at the middle of a heated dispute between Canada and the U.S., as Canadian officers on Friday threatened to quit the necessary wellbeing-care employees from crossing the Detroit River if the U.S. moves to reduce St. Paul, Minn.-based mostly 3M Co. from exporting masks to Canada.
