Central Board of Direct Taxes sweetens Air India privatisation offer

The govt has more sweetened the proposed privatisation of Air India. The Central Board of Immediate Taxes (CBDT) has exempted the airliner from deducting tax gathered at source (TCS).

In accordance to provisions introduced last 12 months, any seller is required to collect TCS at .1 per cent on sale of merchandise to any human being for aggregate price exceeding Rs 500,000.
